The Good
The success stories say it all for Eharmony. It’s scientific approach works well and lets you find out more about yourself as well as others. You don’t waste time looking at profiles of people who don’t meet your criteria and there are fun AND safe ways to connect with people.
The Bad
This site has less ways to communicate than others, due to the lack of chat rooms and instant messaging. They also don’t show other member’s last log ins, meaning it can be unclear whether they are actively using the site.
Network Reach
3.5 million UK members and over 20 million worldwide.

Creating your profile
Part of the reason eHarmony claims to be so successful at finding people relationships and not just dates, is because all of it’s members are required to fill in a length personality questionnaire, in order for them to be able to find your perfect match. Because of this, sign up takes a while, but the results are generally worth it.
Finding your match
Rather than leaving it to you to search through profiles, eHarmony uses it’s intelligent compatibility matching to present to you your matches. They give you small numbers of profiles to check out each day, so it may take a while to find the person best for you. However, with the site allegedly being responsible for an amazing 500+ marriages in the USA every day – they must be doing something right!
Connecting with members
With novel ways of getting in contact with people, dating is made a little easier on Eharmony. You are able to send ice breakers to get conversation flowing or choose five questions for your match to answer to get a better understanding of them as part of their Guided Communication service. As well as this, there is the usual method of private messaging, however no instant messaging function is available.
Mobile Features
There are well designed apps available for iPhone, Android and most other smart phones, which allow you to keep up to date with your matches on the go. This is great for updating your profile with your newest photos or sending people a quick message on your lunch break.
The Trust Factor
A unique feature about this site is the fact you are able to securely call people who have been matched with, without them being able to see your number. This means if you end up being unsure about someone having spoken to them, you won’t get pestered by them afterwards. The site, unlike many others, also allows you to change your preferences so automatic renewal of your subscription is cancelled – although this does increase the cost slightly. You can also cancel your subscription within 7 days and receive a full refund if you decide online dating isn’t for you.
Payment & Support
With a paid subscription you get much more out of the site. You benefit from a deeper analysis of your personality questionnaire, a wider range of ways to communicate and you can view more photos of your matches. It is a little more costly than some other sites, but this is no surprise given the sheer number of success stories they have.
